At Clearer Waters Therapy Ltd, I take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how I collect, protect, and use your personal information in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

As your therapist, I act as the "Data Controller." This means I am responsible for deciding how your personal information is processed and for what purposes.

I collect information to provide you with the best possible care. This includes:

• Contact Details: Name, email, phone number, and address.
• Clinical Records: Session notes, assessment forms, and psychological history (categorized as "Special Category Data").
• Third-Party Info: GP contact details and relevant medical history.

I process your data under the legal basis of Contractual Necessity (to provide therapy) and Health & Social Care (Article 9 of GDPR). Your data is used to:

• Communicate regarding appointments.
• Maintain accurate clinical records for your treatment.
• Comply with professional and insurance requirements.

Your confidentiality is paramount.

• Digital Data: Stored using industry-standard encryption and password protection.
• Physical Data: Kept in a secure, locked location.
• Retention: I retain records for  7 years following the end of our work together, as required by BABCP and my insurance provider.

I will never sell your data or use it for marketing. Information is only shared if:

• I have your explicit written consent.
• I am legally compelled by a court of law.
• There is an imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others (Safeguarding).
• I am consulting with my clinical supervisor (all client identities remain anonymous).

Under GDPR, you have the right to request access to your records, ask for corrections, or request data deletion (where legal retention periods allow).
